“ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” Christians aren’t perfect just forgiven. Because salvation does not mean that we are perfect, we do sin and we must ask God for forgiveness. But we sometimes have a two-fold problem when it comes to seeking forgiveness.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. However, the verse does not say what will happen if we don’t confess our sins.

8 If we say, “We have no sin,” we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say, “We don’t have any sin,” we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

If we make it our habit to confess our sins, in his faithful righteousness he forgives us for those sins and cleanses us from all unrighteousness.
